Your hyperlink to the data on the police-induced homicides has a misleading text of "innocent people". (The raw data makes no such determination.) While too many LEOs still do get a pass when they kill innocent or unarmed and non-threatening people, I suspect that most of their homicides, by far, are of valid threats to themselves or the public. It certainly isn't difficult to find bodycam footage of police shootings where the officers did not shoot wantonly or without justification, but rather because their victim was armed and threatening to the shooter-cop or others.

Fatal shootings by police amount to about 10% of all U.S. firearms homicides for the last 8 years, but how many of the remaining 90% (of the approximately 10,000 annual firearms homicides in the USA) are also valid self-defense is something we just don't know.
